One for the Tree: Seasons

oxygen
needs respiration
and every part of you is covered
green
not
tight

GIVING

dead skin
needs exfoliation
and every part of you is covered
brown
not
sore

SOOTHING

blankets
are for protection
and every part of you is covered
white
not
dead

DREAMING

All life
needs rejuvenation
and every part of you is covered
green
not
born

WAKING

    1. We’ve been given so many great examples in nature. I’m watching the leaves on the trees in my backyard in awe of the autumn changes.
Thanks, Rick! Have a great day!

      1. Enjoying myself, in spite of everything. Watching Trump dance is amazing … the high wire … the clown suit … the red cheeks … the umbrella … the absence of the safety net …

  1. Beautiful . . . and I especially like the style (?) of poetry that you use: very short, crisp, pointed and sectioned off by interconnected words that form a meaning unto themselves, i.e. GIVING, SOOTHING, DREAMING, WAKING. I’m really very tempted to try this myself! 🙂 All the best to you w/blessings!

    1. Thank you so much! I think words are like legos, you just play with them until you get something you like. I hope you do try it and have a great time in the process. I would love to read what you come up with. Blessings your way also and have a wonderful weekend!😊

    1. Lol…my mom still climbs trees in her late sixties (collecting wild grapes and bow hunting), and my nearly ninety year old grandmother still golfs.
The only excuse that I would have for not climbing one would be laziness.
The bar has been set high.

The leaves are changing in my backyard. I want to go hug a few of those trees.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

  2. It’s interesting to watch the cycle of the seasons. Some people feel sad at this time of year, but I don’t. The falling of the leaves is just one part of the process of renewal. Snow covered, in bud or in full foliage–the trees and plants have something to teach us about life’s cycle at every time of year.

  3. Hi Tanya,
    I know Jacqueline.
What a poem! I loved your metaphor of the dead skin needing exfoliation. Your photo fits the mood. I’m always trying to improve my blog photography.
I met you on Gary’s site. You liked his feature of me, so I came by to thank you and introduce myself.
