A Candle Lit

a candle lit
they made too much of it
it was nothing
little flicker
casting wimpy shadows
in a dark room
filled with the hot air
that
critics
naysayers
and
waylaying souls
all
breathe
like
wing-clipped, impotent dragons
fresh from
fire gland removal surgery
nail clipping
fang filing
and
plugging their nostrils with lambs’ wool to protect against the stench
of the sulfuric lies they spew

little flicker
like stage blood
offends
in drops
the cultured, privileged eyes
now covered
but
provides
aesthetic gore
to those sheep led to the slaughtering fields of
deprivation
starvation
and
war
their sanguine fluids shed
they
can
relate

little flicker
they made too much of it
it was nothing
wait
until
they
see
the
flame
it
sparked

    1. Thank you, Steve! That means a lot to me. Pieces like this sharpen my writing skills. The feedback is greatly appreciated!😊 Have a wonderful day!

      1. Your comment reminds me of a Proverb which says “Iron sharpens iron.” You have “mad skills” now, and they are only made better by the way you sharpen them through challenges to your abilities. 🙂

  1. There are some very vivid word pictures here, Tanya, and you have packed some punch into the metaphors. Well done. I love the whole fire-dragon imagery.

    1. Thank you, Roger! I liked that too, especially the notion of all that hot air. There is a lot of that in the world today! Hope you are having a great day.

  2. Hey
Thank you for taking the time to step on over to Love Relaished Ink. It’s wonderful to have your whimsical soul as a new companion on my long and winding road.
From what I have seen of your blog so far, I’ve no doubt you are already finding writing a totally engaging and personally fulfilling experience. I hope the pleasurable company of words will always flow and follow you as you flow following the flow of your flowing path flowing into the wide blue yonder, and flow onwards towards the adventures that follow the flow beyond that…
Best wishes. Take care always in all ways for always.
    Namaste

  3. Thank you, Steve. Those candles are out there, and every little flicker counts. Great fires have been started with less.

    Mine runs on caffeine…☕☕
