we play like children
on a landscape of letters
grains of sand
we form into forts
the waves crash over
and scatter our word creations
we build again
remembering the moat, this time
we dig it deep around the palace plot
then add tall-tale spires
and carve out balconies and archways
to give it character
with shovel pens
and paper pails
we build word castles
like children,
digging our bare toes in the warm grains,
leaving our footprints
on the beach,
splashing in the waves,
adding on chapter layers
by the bucket
we play

Like children, indeed we play……. some. Phenomenal piece Tanya. Hope you are doing great, stay awesome.
Thank you, Manuel! I am keeping busy and enjoying life. I hope the same is true for you! Hugs.
Me too. It is always a pleasure Tanya.
Such a fantastic way to put it!!💕
Thank you! I’m so glad you thought so. Keep playing in those words…
I will!
Tanya, lovely memories. It is off subject, but it reminds me of the phrase “sand castle virtues.” People’s virtues cannot stand the test of the tide. When we were little, we tried to hold the water back through moats to shift. We always looked out the hotel window to see if the fort lasted. Take care, Keith
I like that! I suppose that is why it is best to build your virtues on rock and enjoy the playtime in the sand. Thanks, Keith.
Tanya, here is a set of lyrics from “Thick as a brick” by Jethro Tull.
“And the sand-castle virtues are all swept away in
The tidal destruction
The moral melee.
The elastic retreat rings the close of play as the last wave uncovers
The newfangled way.”
I had to find the source and I felt it was Jethro Tull. I wrote a post many moons ago on this topic.
Keith
I like that. I will have to look up that post. Have a great weekend, Keith!
Thank you! 😊

I seem to keep missing your posts!
This was lovely!
Thank you, Vanessa! That means a lot to me. I am only posting a few times a week right now, and I am missing a lot of great posts from you and my other blogging friends, too. But, I treasure the ones I catch.
You are very welcome. And I am not posting every day either now, so that does help to explain all of that haha
I feel the same, I do treasure the ones I catch. And thank you!
😊💕
