Cherita #15

Nature chokes on smog

her fragile, mortal
breath exhales

industrial toxins escape
in ozone-wasting
expiration

Whispers

whispers in the willow
through tender branches
crackling
inside ice-sheet wrappings
felt
a promise…
these frigid hours will pass
soon Nature will sigh
her warm spring breaths
that tender branches grasp

Ignite

ignite
small candle’s wick
invisible by day
revealed in heavy shroud of night
in darkest hour, the little flame dances
makes shadows bend and sway, arching
along dry, tinder path
to winter’s hearth
ignite

silently bound to suffer

Renewed

renewed
Nature wastes naught
recalls every dead leaf
that feeds the life of each fresh bud
if past’s ghosts filled her heart’s echo chamber
they would drown out the living beat
of spirit recycled
reawakened
renewed
