Softly

softly
barely blushing
flower bud cracks open
the season’s bloom is unabashed
invites winged lover with petals open
tempting the lusty appetite
lest the nectar meal pass
butterfly lands
softly

  1. Beautifully worked out, Tanya. You have the line-breaks just right – they follow the meaning as unlike many others that I see/read, which are just prose broken up into the correct syllable counts. I’m impressed!

      1. It’s a pleasure, spring is my favorite season. We are in Autumn here, but it’s not cold at all. I think it’s global warming!
Same to you, have a great weekend! 🙂

      1. You’re welcome, Tanya. You bet, it would be a great time to take a few more photos, or the flowers may start taking “selfies” hehe…

        Have a great weekend! 🙂

  2. Thank you. I actually see a number of interpretations of it…the beauty of the metaphor. I will leave interpretation to the reader. Hummingbirds arrived on my deck this morning. We’ll see what inspiration they give…

  3. Thank you. There are so many flowers blooming around here right now, my yard is filled with inspiration. Latest guests to arrive? Hummingbirds…
and my neighbor’s cat. We’ll see what that inspires…Lol

      1. It’s a really wonderful place to be and the writing time is just fabulous. And it’s not just the writing time: it’s the whole artistic interchange experience. The creations are just flowing … I am only putting selections online … there is so much more.
