shall we travel together?
not back, but ahead
yet, look back
regretting neither float nor flight
that led fin and feather
to this place
look back and consider
we collected nothing
but memory
for all things pass
except love
even the shells we collected on the beach
filling our mesh bags
cracked and crumbled
we shook and sprinkled the remnants
through the gaps
over the chicken feed
the hens laid prolifically
we ate all the eggs
collecting nothing
but memory
”How long does a kiss stick to a cheek?” he asked.
”Forever, silly,” I answered.
even the cheek will fade to dust
as will our fins and feathers
only love will linger
now, let’s swim and soar, crossing
rivers deep and canyons wide
sojourners
just passing
carrying memories in gossamer packages
spun by the living motions
of our fins and feathers
in float and flight
the love that lingers
bound forever to us, tight

Thank you, Carly! That means a lot to me.
You are welcome, Tanya. Have a great day. 🙂
I will. Have a wonderful week! 😊
spun by living motion and how long a kiss sticking to cheek; lines to remember
Thank you! The “kiss sticking” line was inspired by a children’s book, “Benito’s Dream Bottle”, and the back and forth exchange my oldest son and I had every time we read the book. 😊
How beautiful! At the end of it all, there is only love that exists.
Thank you, Rob! Have a wonderful week, my friend!
You have spun an exquisite tale in a beautifully poetic way… This is, doubtless, one of my favorites, Tanya! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Thank you, Jonathan! That means a lot to me. It was a piece that I floundered around like a fish out of water with for a bit. 😂Many hugs and blessings to you. 😊
Ah, many hugs and blessings to you, too, dear Tanya!
This one wandered a bit, but I liked the parts about crossing canyons, memories in gossamer packages, and love lingering.
I suppose like life sometimes. 😂
Those were my favorite parts, too. I am glad you liked them! Have a wonderful week!
Thanks Tanya. You as well. 🙂
Beautiful and Uplifting.
Thank you so much, Leona! Have a wonderful week!😊
How beautifully connected we all are (I just posted a piece titled We Are Moments!), there is truth and sadness here as well as a lovely reminder to take it all in, every last bit, before we become memory ourselves!
I love that! And, yes, my friend, we most definitely are connected in beautiful ways.
I’m amazed at the synchronicity found out here in our WordPress world!
Agreed!!! Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.
Thank you!
“carrying memories in gossamer packages” I shall remember this wonderful image. Thank you for this lovely piece of writing.

A better one for you, Tanya.
