A Treasured Tanka

new forest sets sail
on waves of lush undergrowth
acorns drop like rain
in a mast year for oak trees
the squirrelly pirates indulge

  1. Fascinating creatures, appropriately captured in your poem, Tanya. Just beware they don’t get into your roof space. They can cause devastating damage there before their presence is detected.

  2. Tanya, whenever we used to hike with the kids, I would come back with pocketfuls of their keepsake acorns they found. Thanks for the reminder. Keith

      1. My chipmunks have become like that. And they seem to be multiplying just as fast as the acorns! 😉
