new forest sets sail
on waves of lush undergrowth
acorns drop like rain
in a mast year for oak trees
the squirrelly pirates indulge

The acorns do seem plentiful. I was almost hit by one walking through the woods recently. I liked those squirrelly pirates.

I love them too! There are so many acorns falling in my backyard, I feel like I need a hard hat!

Fascinating creatures, appropriately captured in your poem, Tanya. Just beware they don’t get into your roof space. They can cause devastating damage there before their presence is detected.

Thank you, Roland! They are crazy. We had one try to get in through the screen of an open window a few weeks ago. 😊

Tanya, whenever we used to hike with the kids, I would come back with pocketfuls of their keepsake acorns they found. Thanks for the reminder. Keith

Glad it brought back happy memories for you! I finally resorted to telling my kids that they could collect things as long as they carried them home. 😊

What a lush, gorgeous image and lovely words as well – Autumn brings us so many gifts and I had to smile, acorns are falling here in my part of the world, too!

Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked it. We got a burst of heat, so it is feeling like summer around here again. Cool weather is on its way.😊

I don’t even have to walk behind the mower anymore. I just glide along on the acorns. Lol…. Loved this!

It has made my squirrels extra crazy, like children with too much sugar! 😊

My chipmunks have become like that. And they seem to be multiplying just as fast as the acorns! 😉
