I Played #2

I played
acoustic strums
on vibrating strings
echoing
through a hollow sound chamber
carefully crafted
for harmonic reverberations
hand-drawn notes from calloused fingers
diverse sounds produced from skillful fretting

I played
on a concrete step
that led
to a House of White
deafened
where the ears were stopped
the chamber plugged with hand-picked cotton

leaving me but the snap of a dull string plucked
the insensitive quack of a nervous duck

      1. When he won the election and everybody was all anti trump, I stood alone in saying give him a change to show what type of POTUS he would be, but now that he’s had 69 days in office and I see for myself he’s a dickweed….my kid gloves have been removed.

  1. Well, Tanya, you never cease to amaze me with your writing talents! This is another one which does not disappoint! Not much faith in the political world at the moment. I can’t say as I blame you. Not too many people believe in the ability and goodness of Washington right now…

    1. Thank you so much, Steve! There is a lot of bigotry rearing its ugly head. We need a lot more love of brother and neighbor…
      Have a great day!😊

      1. Two commands sum up the law and prophets…”Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul. And the second is like it: Treat one another as you wish to be treated yourself…”

If only people would listen and do these things the world would be such a better place! 🙂

      2. Too many people see others as “others” and not as themselves. If I see suffering children as my own, I’ll do something about it.
        Have a great day, Steve!😊

    1. When I started blogging, it was finding my human advocacy “voice” that really moved my writing forward. Finding a way to express my passion on these topics was a catalyst for a lot of creative growth for me. It’s funny. I don’t ever feel “confident” of my writing. I make mistakes and learn from them and welcome the adventure. I’m always learning. I think that is a good a thing…for all of us.

  2. Thank you so much! I sometimes think the second or third versions of poems benefit from the ground we have already traveled with them. When I approached the piece, I used #1 as a model. It allowed me to dig a little more deeply into my writing brain to find the imagery and meanings. I’m so glad you liked it. Both versions are favorites of mine!
