The Tap

the tap from which I fill
my thirst
insatiable
flows
in powerful river currents

moves thoughts
like driftwood
broken
through rocky rapids

tosses bias
like fallen leaves
captured
in stone-framed pools

carries dreams
like flower petals
twirled
in directional swirling

floods mind
like beaten shore
pounded
by relentless waves

sifts meaning
like sand deposits
abandoned
on the river bed

reaches mouth
like once parched banks
overflowed
with running waters

the tap from which I fill
my thirst
insatiable
flows
in powerful river currents

      6. Yes. I am blessed to live in a beautiful part of the country. Most of my pictures come from parks in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin, untouched by the last glaciation. I have abundant grounds to explore!

      7. I lived in Madison for 3 years during the early 90’s, had a chef gig at a restaurant called The White Horse Saloon. Not a saloon at all but an upscale eatery, big with the UW Madison crowd. I liked Madison, and The Dells. Hated the KKK who populated the Janesville area.

        My folks used to have a cabin in Omro, Wisconsin, 8 miles west of Oshkosh in the heart of Wisconsin’s Fox River Valley. I loved fishing there.

        I digress….the images are magnificent.

      8. Madison is a liberal oasis in the middle of the not-so-liberal Midwest. The SW part of the state is influenced by this area, but there are places in this state I would NOT want to live. You touched on one. I’m a UW Madison graduate. America has a long way to go, but Madison gives me hope that we can at least move in the right direction. The KKK/skin head stuff is just appalling everywhere. My oldest has encountered it at college in Michigan. I will never understand it and will fight like hell to counter it.

      9. I loved Madison, hated the Badgers football stuff but loved the city, I lived there during the Madonna “Vogue” dance craze. My Lady & I went to LGBTQA1 clubs to dance the night away, they played the best music in the city. It’s definitely a college party town.

  13. Like this one too. The photo feels cooler than the iced one. I guess it’s the shade, the leaves, and the water. Funny how you get sensations from photos.

      2. Thank you. I love working with the camera, although I have a lot to learn. I agree with you. The pull of opposites, dissonance and tension inspire many things.
